Executive Team

For more than two decades, Paul Lego has developed and led profitable and innovative Silicon Valley companies. He has served as a key member of several executive management teams, overseeing and growing those companies through both good times as well as adversity. Paul's interest in video and rich media led him to Virage, a company that developed the world's first technology to automatically capture, encode and index television, video and audio content from any source. For more than eight years, Paul acted as chairman, president and CEO, leading the company through multiple rounds of funding, a $50 million IPO and acquisition by Autonomy Corporation. Prior to Virage, Lego was executive vice president, COO, and a board member at Digidesign, a manufacturer of digital audio recording systems. Digidesign went public in 1993 and was bought by Avid Technology in 1994. Paul has also held positions at Pyramid Technology Corporation, the General Electric Company, and Digital Equipment Corporation. Lego received a master's degree with highest distinction from the Harvard Business School, and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University. He is a member of the Young Presidents Organization and serves on the board of trustees for the San Francisco Ballet.

Robert Currie has more than 15 years of experience leading early-stage tech companies in Silicon Valley including TiVo-acquired Strangeberry, a company whose technology enables TiVo to provide unique content to its set-top boxes. Rob's experience covers a range of markets including consumer products, enterprise and digital-media production. Prior to his role at Strangeberry, Rob co-founded wireless mobile software company Airgomo where he led product development for emerging 2.5G mobile technologies. He previously served as Marimba's vice president of engineering and Digidesign/Avid's vice president of software engineering, each from early stage through IPO. Rob holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley and a MBA from the University of Chicago. He is also a member of the board of the Stanford Jazz Workshop and Funambol Inc., an open-source mobile software company.

A 30-year finance veteran, Jim Buckley joins Dash most recently from Airespace, Inc., a wireless networking company, where as CFO, he was involved in the company's acquisition by Cisco Systems, Inc. Prior to Airespace, Jim led financial operations for a broad range of companies including: Commission Junction, an on-line marketing company (acquired by ValueClick, Inc.); CyberSource Corporation, an on-line payment and risk management firm; Cygnus Solutions, a provider of open source software services (acquired by Red Hat, Inc.); and GET Manufacturing, an electronics contract manufacturer in Asia (acquired by Jabil Circuits). Jim began his finance career as a public accountant with Ernst and Young. Over the past three decades, Jim has been intimately involved in five IPO's and numerous mergers and acquisitions of technology companies. Jim holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and is a certified public accountant.

For more than 20 years, Keith Geck has been involved in launching consumer electronics, personal computers, and wireless products through retail and direct selling channels. Spanning a 14-year career at Apple where he served as Vice President of Channel Sales, Keith lead the launch of both the iPod and iMac in collaboration with leading national retailers and independent dealers. Keith's responsibilities at Apple included delivering over $1 billion in annual sales and overall management of the business and government market segments. Following his tenure at Apple, Keith was responsible for retail sales at Firefly Mobile where he worked closely with specialty and national retailers to launch the Firefly mobile phone and a new segment within the electronics category. Keith holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA from the University of Southern California.

For nearly 20 years, Ken Kershner has held key engineering roles in the digital media field with a focus on product innovation and customer experience. Prior to joining Dash, Ken spent seven years at TiVo serving in a number of engineering leadership positions including Vice President of Service Engineering. In this position, Ken was charged with building the division focused on developing products for satellite and cable providers. Before TiVo, Ken was the Engineering Vice President of TenTV.com, a streaming media educational services firm. For more than eight years, Ken held engineering and program management positions at Silicon Graphics, Inc., focusing on digital media and web applications. Earlier in his career, Ken worked in product management at Hewlett Packard and sales engineering at Texas Instruments. Ken holds a BSEE degree from Duke University and an MBA from M.I.T.'s Sloan School.

With more than 25 years of industry experience, Hans has made high-impact, senior level contributions to technology companies in manufacturing operations, supply chain, quality engineering , information technology and reseller channel development. Hans has a Masters in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He spent 15 years at Hewlett-Packard in product design and manufacturing operations, eventually leading the development of their multi-billion dollar Computer Product Organization's US reseller channel strategy. Previous to Dash, Hans drove design and operational implementation of the award-winning OQO, Ultra Mobile PC's. Hans is a focused, results-driven, and team-oriented leader. His extensive experience designing, developing and scaling supply chains, as well as delivering profitable, high-quality products on-time makes Hans a valued asset to the Dash executive team.

For more than 15 years, Jim Geison has been driving licensing and advertising sales for technology and media organizations. Prior to joining Dash, Jim spent seven years at DivX, a digital media company enabling high quality video, serving in a number of sales and business leadership positions including Vice President of Worldwide Sales and most recently Vice President and General Manager of Consumer Electronics Licensing. In these positions, Jim was charged with starting up and growing the DivX consumer electronics licensing business with responsibility for $85 million in annual revenue. Before DivX, Jim held sales positions with Infospace and the Meredith Broadcasting Group. Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts from Drake University and a Master of Arts in Broadcast Management from Indiana University.

Mike Tzamaloukas brings more than a decade of experience with state of the art, location-based wireless technologies to Dash Navigation. Before Dash, Mike architected new software protocols that differentiate internal products from the competition as chief scientist at AmbiCom, Inc., a wireless communications company that provides access to information for mobile users anytime and anywhere. He has also held senior engineering positions at SRI International and Cenus Networks. Mike has published over 20 refereed articles, is a frequent speaker at prestigious conferences and is the inventor of five U.S. patents with several others pending. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in computer engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Brian Smartt brings 20 years of experience as a recognized industry expert in spatial data modeling for navigation applications. Prior to joining Dash Navigation, Brian was cofounder and chief technical officer of Telcontar, a leading geo-spatial software platform provider whose customers include Google, Yahoo Maps, Motorola, and Rand McNally. Prior to that, Brian spent seven years at Etak, the company that pioneered automotive navigation systems in the 1980s. Brian graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics from San Jose State University.
